Messy Hairstyles

The shape of your face is an important factor in determining what type of shag cut you want, but no matter the shape of your face, if done correctly, your hair will end up complimenting whatever shape it happens to be. However, you must make sure your stylist or barber, (for those of you manlier men) know exactly what they're doing before you allow them to approach your face, wielding a straight-razor (which is used to achieve the desired layers, not to inflict bodily harm, so have no fear).

The shag cut is a low maintenance hairstyle, which means you won't have to visit the salon/barber very often. Once you have your cut, styling it yourself should be a breeze. You may want to use styling products, to make it look more messy or to keep it in place after you've styled it. However, most people tend to think letting it dry naturally looks the best, but some like to add a little funkiness. This look requires lots of layering, so if you plan on growing your hair out to one length, you're gonna have a bit of a wait. This tousled, messy, laid back, look, can be pulled off by just about any guy (given he has enough hair to work with in the first place). A problem for a lot of men seems to be that of balding. There are products you can buy to help prevent this from happening, and things you can do to the hair you still have to make it appear a bit thicker. With the many layers in the shag, it's possible to cut it in a way that makes it look more full.
